On the Insert tab, click Page Breaks on the Pages group. You can use the Replace command to remove manual page breaks by searching for manual page breaks. Note Do not click the Replace All button when you remove manual page breaks unless your document contains no section breaks. Check for unexpected page breaks following 'Normal' style text. Put your cursor where you want one page to end and the next to begin. Go to Insert Page Break. Tip:  If Word puts a new page in your document unexpectedly, it might be because of a page break. To view page breaks so that you can select and delete them, go to Home Show/Hide.

From memory the reason for this is that Word differentiates between the 'return' key and the 'enter' key (found only on the extended keyboard, and not on the notebook one), so 'shift return' ≠ 'shift enter'. ('shift return' , instead, actually provides a 'soft' carriage return, rather than a paragraph break)
I set mine up (using the 'Tools / Customise Keyboard' command in Word 2007) to use 'Shift control return' instead for the page break, which doesn't seem to conflict with anything else and I find easy enough to remember.

Updates for microsoft office for mac 2016. NINicholazzZto the update / install page, i got the Excel updater (almost 946 MB). If you are working in Word 2003, you can click the Show/Hide button on the Toolbar to quickly show or hide all section breaks in the Word document.

Btw, you can use the keyboard shortcut of Show/hide function: Ctrl+* or Shift+Ctrl+*

1. Click Tools> Options. See the first screenshot below:

2. In the Options dialog box, please click the View tab, and then check All option in Formatting marks group to show section breaks in document.
Note: For hiding all section breaks, please uncheck this All option in the Options dialog box.

3. Click the OK button to save the settings.
